Stewarts Lane 1995 33117, 73105, and 37380 in Stewarts Lane depot on May 12 1995., 33117 had already been withdrawn at this date, but still survives in preservation, 73105 and 37380 (now renumbered 37259) are also still active.

Prime central London residence 33042 has stood at Stewarts Lane long enough for a family of birds to take residence on the steps to the cab, as I walked by the young chicks thought they were about to be fed. 33042 was cut up on site in January 1997, some 21 months after this shot was taken. 21 April 1995.

E5007 at Stewarts Lane Freshly painted in the "new" rail blue livery, but still carrying it's pre-tops number E5007. Later to become 71007., You can just see one of the the old central division electric locos in the shed, which were known as hornbys, and would have been class 70, had they lasted long enough. May 30 1968. One of my earliest forays into railway photography, wish I had taken more at that time.

Clan Line test Merchant Navy class 35028 Clan Line takes the Redhill line at Tonbridge with a loaded test run (5Z87) after being off the main line for two years. Running from Stewarts Lane on a large circular route around Kent. 22 October 2024. The gloomy weather didn't help.

Unlikley visitors D9000 "Royal Scots grey" and 55016 "Gordon Highlander" are berthed in Stewarts Lane depot, next to the more familiar class 73. , I have no date for this, only between  December 1988, and February 1989., , After all these years I have just noticed the headcode on the ED is 55... uncanny.

R.I.P. (2) 4 Vep 3033 after the terrible Clapham crash that claimed 35 lives on 12 December 1988., This was taken a few days later when the damaged stock was moved into Stewarts Lane depot., A sad sight indeed, which no words can describe.
