25306 From what I can remember the Class 25's or 'Rats' were never all that regular visitors to Sheffield and this parcels turn was normally a Class40., At time of picture allocated to Crewe Diesel,the former D7656 lasted in traffic until February 1985 and then became one of the class members to meet its end at Vic Berrys in February 1988., , 27 12 84

97201 ex 24061 Pictured at Vic Berrys probably for asbestos removal after being withdrawn from service on 10th December 1987., New to March in January 1960 as D5061,spent time allocated in the London area,Scotland and finally the North West., Taken out of stock in October 1975 to become train heating unit TDB968007.Sent to Derby RTC in 1978 and after an engine transplant from 24063 at Doncaster Works in August 1979 renumbered to 97201., Preserved on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway., , 9 10.88

45123 Formerly The Lancashire Fusilier pictured withdrawn at Toton., Built at Crewe Works and released as D52 in June 1962,renumbered in April 1974., Named The Lancashire Fusilier at Manchester Piccadilly in 1963., During April 1983 it received a General/refurbishment repair at Crewe Works,although it had spent almost a year there., In July 1986 the loco sustained collision damage and was withdrawn and stored at Toton., Eventually moved to Vic Berry's and cut up in 1988.

Vic Berry's Survivor The former 40118 now preserved at Tyseley is pictured at Vic Berry's scrapyard , date unknown but sometime in 1988., , BR Career : New to Crewe in February 1961 as D318 , became 40118 retaining a working boiler even after its final works overhaul at Crewe in February 1978., It suffered a total main generator failure in November 1981 whilst working the 1652 Bangor - Manchester and it took several trips back to the works before BR finally accepted back in traffic in 1983., It was first withdrawn in February 1985 with worn tyres , but reinstated in May 1985 as 97408 to help with Crewe station remodelling programme., Withdrawn for the last time in November 1985 , towed to Carlisle for spares., Taken to Crewe in January 1988 then onwards to Vic Berrys with fellow preserved whistler 40013 , leaving and arriving at Tyseley in September 1988., , 1988

Its October 1988 and 45006 the former Honourable Artillery Company awaits the final act at Vic Berrys - Leicester ., Taken out of service in September 1986 reportedly due to poor condition and general unreliability , it was stored at Toton where along with March , Tinsley and Thornaby became storage sites for the Peaks until cutting ., The final Peaks were cut up in 1994 having been stored at March TMD for almost 7 years ., , 6 10 88

A sorry sight at Stanton Gate , Nottinghamshire  in March 1990 as a long line of Class 20's await disposal . , From 1988 onwards the phasing out of the class gathered pace due to sectorisation , a reduction in traffic and a move towards more higher powered Type 5;s . , Up to 1986 BR scrapped their locos at BREL works or depots a shift in policy saw locos scrapped at breakers with Vic Berrys and MC Metals cutting up the majority of the chopper fleet., Head of the line is 20158 which was withdrawn in May 1989 , cut up at MC Metals Glasgow in February 1991 . , , 18 3 90
