Bristol Temple Meads, May 1978 The Bridgnorth to Kingswear Severn Valley Limited,  composed of the SVR restored GWR rake, departs from Bristol Temple Meads behind Brush Type 4 No. 47086 COLOSSUS  and meets BR Sulzer Type 4 No. 45025 arriving with the 08:13 Plymouth - Leeds on 6th May 1978., , 45025 was built at Derby works as D19, entering traffic in December 1960 and would spend the majority of its career allocated to Leeds Holbeck MPD. It is one of the class fitted with the distinctive split headcode boxes each side of the gangway doors. D11 – D15 were delivered fitted with the gangway doors however it was then decided to omit the gangway doors and consequently D16 –D30 and D68 – D107 were delivered with the doors no longer incorporated into the nose, but the headcode boxes still on the outside edges of the nose front. Eventually the design was modified and the remaining Peak locomotives had the headcode boxes in the centre of the nose. 45025 was an early class 45 casualty being withdrawn in May 1981 and broken up at Derby works in November of that year. Condemned Locomotives, Bescot, May 1989 Awaiting disposal at Bescot on 21st May 1989 are English Electric Type 1 No. 20181 and BR Sulzer Type 2 No. 25211., , 20181 was built at the Vulcan Foundry in 1966 and withdrawn from service in November 1987. 25211 was built at Derby Works in 1965 and withdrawn from service in July 1986. Both were cut at MC Metals, Springburn in May 1994 and July 1995 respectively., , 293'10785

D45, Bristol Temple Meads, April 1964 BR Sulzer Type 4 No. D45 leaves the original Brunel part of Bristol Temple Meads with the Sunday 6.50pm train for Leicester London Road on 19th April 1964., , The original terminus at Temple Meads was built in 1839–41 for the Great Western Railway and was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It was closed in September 1965 and now functions as an events venue., , D45 was built at Derby Works and delivered to Cricklewood depot in September 1961. At the time of this photograph it was based at Derby. It was renumbered as 45036 in May 1975 and withdrawn from service at Tinsley in May 1986. , , 127'075

D7594, Derby, July 1964 BR Sulzer Type 2 No. D7594 departs from Derby with a southbound inter-regional train on 4th July 1964., , D7594 was built at Darlington Works and put into service at Toton (16A) on 03/06/1964. It was transferred to Derby (16C) during the week ending 04/07/1964. It was renumbered as 25244 on 30/10/1973 and withdrawn from service on 21/07/1986. It is now preserved in unrestored condition at the Kent & East Sussex Railway., , 127'104

45597 BARBADOS, Derby, July 1964 LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 45597 BARBADOS being moved by diesel shunter D2384 at Derby on 4th July 1964. , , This long-time Leeds Holbeck based locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company at their Queens Park works in Glasgow and entered traffic with the London Midland & Scottish Railway in January 1935. It was withdrawn by British Railways in January 1965 and scrapped by Draper's of Hull. , , 127'101

45018, Holgate Junction, York, August 1978 BR Sulzer Type 4 No. 45018 approaches York with the 07:40 Cardiff Central - Newcastle on 28th August 1978., , 45018 was one of the early Peaks, built at Derby Works equipped with split box indicators and gangway doors. It entered traffic as D15 in December 1960 and was withdrawn from service in January 1981. , , 60'2312

46055, Blackwell, May 1982 Having topped the Lickey incline, BR Sulzer Type 4 No. 46055 picks up speed with the 08.35 Taunton - Newcastle on 8th May 1982., , 46055 was built at Derby works as D192 and entered traffic in January 1963, allocated to Gateshead MPD for North East – South West cross country and secondary East Coast Main Line duties. It was one of fifty six Peak class locomotives fitted with Brush electrical equipment instead of Crompton Parkinson which would form class 46. It would spend the 1960’s and early 1970’s as a Gateshead or Holbeck engine being transferred between the two depots a number of times before settling down at Gateshead for the rest of its career. In May 1981 46055 was withdrawn and dispatched to Swindon works arriving in October 1981. However an increased demand for Type 4 locomotives at the end of 1981 found 46 055 being officially reinstated and it departed from Swindon on the 19th January 1982. By October 1982 46055 was in poor condition and suffering from multiple faults and was again withdrawn.
