Demise of Class 50, 50025
In August 1989 Class 50, 50025 was derailed outside West Ealing station when vandals placed a length of rail across the main line. The locomotive travelled for half a mile before turning on its side. There were no fatalities or serious injuries but the locomotive was so badly damaged it was written off. The locomotive cabs ended up at Vic Berry's scrapyard in Leicester after initial scrapping at OOC.. This photo was taken on 20.1.1990 at Vic Berry's. On the 10.3.1991 a serious fire broke out at the scrapyard which led to it's eventual closure in June 1991.
