Flag Lane Scrap Line
At the head of the Flag Lane scrap sidings on 6th March 1988 are "Generators" 47409 and 47414. 47409 was delivered new to Finsbury Park in January 1963 as D1508 and, apart from two years at Immingham TMD from November 1967, it spent it's entire BR career allocated to Finsbury Park. It was latterly named 'David Lloyd George' and was withdrawn from service on 14th August 1986 after catching fire at Montrose. It was despatched to Vic Berry's Leicester scrapyard and dealt with there during May 1989. It's classmate, 47414, was also delivered new to Finsbury Park TMD from Brush's Falcon Works at Loughborough, in March 1963, and was withdrawn from service at the same depot, on 7th March 1986. It was also disposed of at Vic Berry's yard, during June 1989. The buffer stop on the siding upon which the locos are stored would appear to have experienced a heavy shunt incident!, , © Gordon Edgar - All rights reserved.
