37 003 and 37 426 'Y Lein Fach/Vale Of Rheidol' pass Garth on the approach to Machynlleth hauling 1J20, the summer SO 0740 London Euston - Pwllheli on Saturday 15th August 1987. , Both locomotives were built by English Electric at their Vulcan Foundry in Newton-le-Willows. 37 003 entered service as D6703 on December 28th 1960, becoming 37 003 under TOPS in February 1974. It was stored as unserviceable in August 1994 but was purchased for preservation by the Class 37 Group in April 1998. Since then it has been in service at the Wensleydale, Weardale and Mid Norfolk Railways and is currently undergoing another overhaul at Leicester. , 37 426 entered service in August 1965 as D6999, was renumbered 37 299 in February 1974 under TOPS & became 37 426 in February 1986 following an overhaul and conversion to an ETH 37/4 at Crewe Works. It was named 'Y Lein Fach/Vale Of Rheidol' in a ceremony at Aberystwyth on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 1987. After surviving for 9 years in storage, it was scrapped in March 2013 by CF Booths of Rotherham. , , ,
