1M58, the 0820 Newcastle - Llandudno, arrives at it's destination led by 47 647 'Thor' on Saturday October 18th 1986., Taken from the signal box, after being invited up by the signalman who'd seen me waiting to photograph it from the end of the platform, I'd actually set the road & signalled this into the station & spent an enjoyable couple of hours pulling levers & sending & answering bell codes, all under his close supervision. Quite an experience for a 15 year old!, Built at Crewe Works, the Brush Type 4 began it's career on April 24th 1965 as D1677 & was named 'Thor' in August 1966. It became 47 091 under TOPS in 1974, was renumbered again as 47 647 in April 1986 & in December 1989 it became 47 846., In May 2003 it was renumbered once more to 57 308 after being rebuilt & modified to become a General Motors powered class 57. It remains in service today with DRS.,
