BR Sulzer Type 2 25 912 'Tamworth Castle' pauses for a crew change at Crewe whilst hauling container flats from Holyhead to Derby on Tuesday 12th August 1986., Built by BR in Derby, it entered service as D7672 in February 1967 & became 25 322 under TOPS in 1973. It gained a reprieve from initial withdrawl when it was renumbered again in November 1985, becoming 25 912. It was eventually withdrawn a second time, after nearly 25 years in traffic in March 1991. Happily, it escaped the cutter's torch & is now preserved at the Churnet Valley Railway, although it is not operational at present.
