12002 Derby Works March 18th 1956
British Railways 0-6-0 diesel electric shunter No.12002 at Derby Locomotive Works on March 18th 1956., , Originally numbered 7079, it was built as a demonstrator by R&W Hawthorn Leslie & Co. Ltd, Newcastle under Lot 136 during 1934., , 7079 was powered by an English Electric 6K 300bhp diesel engine, coupled to an English Electric transmission., , It was taken into LMSR stock in December 1936 and would spend nearly 20 years allocated o Crewe South. , , It was broken up at Derby Locomotive Works during September 1956., , Ten very similar shunters were built by RSH, Newcastle under Lot 135, numbered 7069 - 7078., , Most of these ended up in War Department service, however 7074 & 7076 returned to the LMSR and were renumber ed 12000 & 12001 respectively. These two also spent most of their working lives at Crewe South., , Original photographer unknown.
