Cheddleton
Class 25 locomotive 25322 sits in a siding at Cheddleton next to the station on the Churnet Valley Railway, looking like it's not been used in a long time and unlikely to be used anytime soon., Having already been withdrawn twice already in January 1984 and again in March 1987, this class 25 locomotive 25322 'Tamworth Castle' (25912, D7672) outlived the official class 25 withdrawal date of March 23rd 1987 on British Rail by 4 years, it's last duty being "The Rat Requiem" railtour from Holyhead to Leeds on the 30th March 1991, and in doing so brought to an end the reign of the class on British Rail., In total 327 locomotives were built between 1961 and 1967, at BR workshops at Derby, Darlington and at Beyer Peacock in Gorton., , 19th February 2023
