25 234, Derby Works, 23-02-85
Built at BR Darlington Works and entering traffic in February 1964 as D7584, this BR Sulzer Type 2 loco was renumbered to 25 234 under TOPS in February 1974. Pictured here in Derby Works no doubt awaiting the inevitable withdrawal from service, which was officially the following month. The final journey was to Vic Berry's scrapyard in Leicester, where the gas torch performed the last rites in May 1989.
